YEARLING-PREP
Breeding determines the ultimate limit to performance
but how close a yearling is to reaching that limit can
be defined by management and nutrition. Correctly fed
yearlings achieve greater gains in whither height, reach
mature height earlier and deposit less fat because their
essential amino acid requirements are met. Hip height
and hoof growths are superior when trace minerals such
as manganese, zinc, and copper are supplied as proteinates
instead of organic salts. |
