NICHOLAS FYFFE
Riding 3 different horses in 3 different levels at The Australian Dressage Championships kept me busy. Two of the horses Rhodes and Ferrero Rocher were old hands and then I also had a catch ride Roccoco in the Novice. This is a serious horse for the future but I didn't have an easy task ahead of me as I had only had the mare in training at my stables for a week previous to the competition. She is very talented yet quite a hot mare and I was keen to get a little more weight and condition on her during the week leading up to the event. This can be a difficult balance when trying to keep them cool yet keep the condition on her.
She was fed Munga before and during the competition. This kept her condition on, gave her enough energy without producing any negative nervous tension. I was very happy with her results having been placed in both of her tests. Some interesting judging arguably kept us just out of a Championship title.
Ferrero Rocher and I were to start in the Prix St Georges, Intermediate 1 and The Intermediate Freestyle. This is a reasonably intense program, especially for a stallion that has just began the breeding season. He was kept fresh throughout the competition with my favourite Mitavite feed XLR8 and I also added Super Amino 66 and the Omega 3 oil. He performed well. It was his first major championship since a serious colic surgery and I was happy with his placing 6th in the PSG and again 6th in the Freestyle.
Since his surgery he has been entirely on Mitavite products.
Rhodes is perhaps the most reliable competition horse I have ever ridden. He is such a big horse at 17.3 hands that I need to be carefull that he doesnt put too much weight on to avoid excess stress on his joints. He is so relaxed that I like to make sure he has enough energy so he is also fed XLR8 and a high ration of Omega oil.
He performed well placing consistently in both Advanced test and taking out the National Championship for The Advanced Freestyle.
I would like to thank Mitavite for all their support as Nutrition plays a huge role in performance.
