MITAVITE was first established at Somersby in the mid 1980’s when
founder Sam Rutherford and his associates identified a need for quality
horse feed products to be made available throughout the horse industry.
Their innovative approach, vision and dedication to the well being and
nutritional requirements of all types of horses led to the company being
established as the forerunner in the supply of scientifically balanced
and blended feeds.
The company's continued growth and widespread acceptance of these revolutionary
products initially saw the construction of a sophisticated computerised
mill at Somersby, on the New South Wales Central Coast. This is the largest
dedicated mill of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. Additions to the
plant throughout the 1990’s and new processes such as steam extrusion
were necessitated due to the high demands of horse owners. These are now
an integral element of the company’s manufacturing profile. MITAVITE’s
steam extrusion process is the only one of its kind and was the first to
be developed in Australia specifically for the horse industry. Other innovative
processes specific to horse feed manufacture are also included, specialised
molasses holding and distribution, bulk raw material unloading facilities,
and oil distribution processes. This along with continued research and
development programs established to support specific requirements ensures
that MITAVITE continues to be the industry leader.
First known as the Australian Feed Company, MITAVITE (now a division of
Inghams Enterprises Pty Limited) has also become a world leader in the
manufacture of specialised Horse Feeds, under the MITAVITE trademark.
The blended mixes which are patented in Australia, New Zealand and South
East Asia, are nutritionally balanced and expertly formulated to provide
unique products for the racing, breeding and leisure/performance horse
industries.
MITAVITE markets and distributes its products all over Australia with
representation by distribution depots, wholesale and retail produce merchants
in all major cities, major regional centres and horse breeding and performance
centres.
Export markets have developed strongly with MITAVITE products being
shipped to Noumea, Thailand, Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines,
Malaysia, Japan, Korea, and Qatar and Dubai in the Middle East, UK, South
Africa and Mauritius. New Zealand markets continue to grow steadily and
our products meet the high standards set by NZ quarantine authorities.
The success in all these markets is due to the high standard of production,
quality control, packaging and proven results of the MITAVITE range of
products.
