The dust has begun to settle in the aftermath of the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association’s National Finals Rodeo and Campdraft. Heralded by all as an immeasurable success, plans are already well and truly underway for next years National Finals, set to be even bigger and better.
The huge week of competition was kicked off with the Junior National Finals Rodeo on Monday 19 January, an event that showcased the ABCRA’s leading junior competitors.
Many of these enormously talented kids had also qualified in the senior National Finals Rodeo, a testament to the quality of the ABCRA’s future champions.
The ABCRA is proud to partner with Mitavite to support our up and coming competitors. This year our National Champions and Finals Aggregate Champion Barrel Racers each received an embroidered rug courtesy of Mitavite.
Amanda Watson was the National Champion 14-U18 Years Barrel Racer, while Jody Batchelor had two round wins for a National Finals Championship.
Bianca Hertel won all three rounds of the 11-U14 Junior Barrel Race to take out both the National Championship and Finals Aggregate.
Ben Gard was the U11 years Barrel Race National Champion; the Finals Championship went to Queensland cowgirl Lacey Wilcox after two round wins and a second placing.
These young cowboys and cowgirls were thrilled with their stunning gold trimmed rugs, which will no doubt be seen right across the country as these dedicated kids continue down the Rodeo trail.
This year also saw Mitavite sponsor the Mitavite Maiden series. The 2008 Most successful Rider Ben Maytom, and his talented mare Gem were crowned the Maiden Horse National Champions.
Ken MacCallum and Victory, owned by Ken Brown, won the Maiden Horse Finals Aggregate Championship.
Both received beautiful embroidered rugs courtesy of Mitavite.
